Privacy Policy

Last updated: 12 October 2026

This policy explains how Flenka handles personal data when you visit its website or use its desktop application.

1. Data controller

Flenka is operated by Jean-Emmanuel BEILLEVERT, individual entrepreneur, 4 allée du Pavillon, 44310 Saint-Philbert-de-Grand-Lieu, France (SIRET 841 735 657 00048). Privacy enquiries: hello@flenka.com.

2. Accounts and YouTube connection

Flenka is designed for creators aged 15 or over. Fuel purchases are restricted to users aged 18 or over.

Some Flenka features, such as sending Briefs to your team, require an account. To create one, you must sign in with a Google account and authorize Flenka to connect to at least one of your YouTube channels. Google sign-in alone is not sufficient. Flenka uses account identifiers and contact details supplied through authentication to create and maintain your account.

The YouTube connection allows Flenka to associate your account with each channel you connect. You can connect several channels, one at a time; each one has its own workspace in Flenka. For each connected channel, Flenka accesses its channel ID, name, handle, profile image and subscriber count. These details may appear in your account and in information you share with authorized collaborators. Flenka refreshes them while the connection is active, at least every 30 days. If your subscriber count is hidden on YouTube, Flenka does not receive it. Flenka does not need permission to upload, modify or delete YouTube videos for this purpose. The permissions presented during Google's authorization flow determine the access granted.

You can revoke Flenka's Google/YouTube authorization through your Google Account settings. Because an authorized YouTube connection is required for account features, revoking access may prevent their use until authorization is restored. Revocation is distinct from deleting your Flenka account; contact hello@flenka.com if you also wish to request account deletion.

Flenka deletes stored YouTube channel data within 30 days at most after the relevant authorization ends or the account is deleted, unless the data has already been deleted. This does not extend the period for which Flenka may use revoked authorization. Flenka does not sell Google-derived information, use it for advertising profiles or use it to train AI models.

Flenka's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs is subject to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. By connecting a channel, you are also subject to the YouTube Terms of Service. You can consult the Google Privacy Policy and manage third-party access in your Google Account:

If Flenka adds functionality requiring further Google or YouTube permissions, it will explain the additional access and request the relevant authorization before using it.

3. Content you create and store

Flenka processes scripts, notes, research, Sources, Videos, Briefs, project information and other content you choose to create, import, synchronize or share. Processing is necessary to save your work, operate the application and provide the collaboration features you choose to use.

Your work is private by default. Collaborators can access only the material made available to them through the applicable permissions. Removing access prevents subsequent authorized access through Flenka but cannot retrieve copies previously exported or received by another participant.

Flenka does not sell your content or use private creative work for advertising profiling or model training.

Send to Device. You can send a Video’s script to your phone or tablet to read it while filming. Before the script leaves your computer, Flenka encrypts it locally using an encryption key included in the QR code or link provided to you. The key is not transmitted to Flenka’s servers, which store only the encrypted script and cannot decrypt its content.

Anyone who obtains the QR code or link can access the script without a Flenka account. You should therefore treat the link as confidential and share it only with trusted devices or people.

The encrypted script is deleted from Flenka’s active servers seven days after it was last sent. A device that has opened the script may retain an encrypted local copy for offline reading. You can remove that copy by clearing the browser’s site data on that device.

4. Local semantic search

Flenka's local AI is used for semantic search across the files and material you make available within the application. The AI inference runs on your computer. Content is not sent to an external AI provider to perform this local search, and the search material is not used to train AI models. Ordinary cloud synchronization of content you choose to store in Flenka is separate from local AI processing.

5. Paid Fuel operations

Fuel allows you to request additional paid operations, including operations that may use external AI services. When an operation involves an external provider, the data needed to perform that specific operation may be processed by that provider. The operation, its cost and relevant data use must be explained before you initiate it. Flenka does not treat locally processed semantic-search data as automatically authorized for transmission to external AI providers. Information about external providers and any international transfers will be provided when those operations are introduced.

6. Technical data and communications

Flenka may process authentication records, device or application details, timestamps, technical events, security logs and diagnostics to operate and protect the service and resolve incidents. Support communications and account-related notices may be retained where needed to respond to requests and operate the service. Private scripts and other creative content are not used for advertising analytics.

7. Payments

When you purchase Fuel, Flenka processes the information needed to credit the purchase, provide a receipt, handle customer support, prevent fraud and meet accounting and tax obligations. Payment details needed to complete the transaction are handled through the payment method presented at checkout. See the Fuel Terms of Sale for purchase conditions.

8. Legal bases

Flenka processes account and service data to perform its contract with you; accounting and other legally required records to comply with legal obligations; security and limited technical data where necessary for legitimate interests that do not override your rights; and data requiring consent on the basis of that consent. Google/YouTube access also depends on the authorization you grant through Google.

9. Service providers and transfers

Flenka uses Google for account and YouTube authorization, and relies on hosting and application infrastructure to operate the service. Some providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where required, Flenka applies an appropriate lawful transfer mechanism and safeguards. Information about providers used for paid external-AI operations will be made available before those operations are enabled.

10. Retention and deletion

Flenka retains personal data only while needed for the service or another identified lawful purpose. Following an account-deletion request, the account may remain recoverable for 30 days; associated data is then removed from active systems. Stored YouTube channel information is deleted no later than 30 days after the relevant authorization ends or the account is deleted. Information no longer needed may be deleted earlier.

Scripts transferred using Send to Device are stored in encrypted form and deleted from Flenka’s active servers seven days after their last transmission. Copies retained locally on receiving devices are not automatically deleted when the server copy expires.

Certain transaction and accounting documents must be retained for the periods prescribed by French law. This does not justify retaining your YouTube avatar, channel metadata or private creative files for accounting purposes. Technical backup deletion may follow a separate rotation schedule; Flenka does not represent a backup as immediately erased merely because active data has been removed.

11. Security and access

Flenka restricts access to personal data to what is needed to operate, secure and support the service. Authorized personnel may exceptionally access relevant information for support, incident response or legal compliance. No online service can guarantee absolute security.

12. Your rights

Under applicable data-protection law, you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability or object to certain processing. You may withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. Contact hello@flenka.com; identity verification may be required. You may also lodge a complaint with the French data-protection authority, the CNIL.

13. Cookies and tracking

The Cookies & Tracking Notice describes the technologies used on Flenka's website and in the application. Optional tracking requiring consent will not be used without that consent.

14. Changes

Flenka may update this policy as the service changes. Material changes in data use, including new YouTube permissions or external AI processing, will be explained before the relevant new processing begins.
